Good Turn         It means you should always be looking for extra opportunities to help others, quietly and without boasting. Remember that a Good Turn is an act of kindness, not just something you do because it is good manners.      Completing a Good Turn every single day might seem daunting. What if I’m sick? What if it’s raining? What if I’m busy with school, sports or life?. What counts as a Good Turn? Picking up a piece of trash that someone else left behind Return shopping carts for people at the grocery store. Unplug electronic appliances when not in use. Give your change to the homeless. Volunteer for an hour at an organization of your choice. Recycle whatever paper, bottles, and plastic items possible. Find unneeded items in your house and donate them to a charitable organization. Left-Hand Shake      founder of the Scouts, Lord Baden-Powell, claimed he learned the left hand shake from a defeated African Ashanti Tribe chief whom Colonel Baden-Powell attempted to greet in 1896 by holding out his right hand. But the Ashanti chief Offered their left hands and supposedly replied: "The men in my tribe greet the bravest of the brave with the left hand, Because to do so we must drop our shield and our protection."        There are different versions of this story that the scouts shake with their left hand because it's the hand closer to the heart.

Scout / Guide Salute      It is the privilege of the one who sees first to salute first.            Scout / Guide salute is an expression of respect and good manners. It is the privilege and not a service act. It is an outward expression of the spirit of discipline and respect for the other. The manner of saluting indicates the standard of discipline and the state of training and the morale in the unit.      Salute is given by raising the arm smartly   to the level of the shoulder, palm to the front with the three fingers stretched together, the first touching the forehead one inch above the right eyebrow and the thumb closing on the little finger and after that the arm, cutting to the front is quickly and smartly brought down curling the fingers. Normally all movements are done to the timing of four counts

Scout / Guide Sign      By showing   Scout / Guide sign you will recognize as a scout anywhere in the world. The Scout / Guide Sign is given by raising the right hand, in level with the shoulder, palm to front with three fingers stretched together and thumb closing on the little finger. The three upraised fingers stand for the three parts of the Scout / Guide Promise. The thumb and little finger together stand for the bond between all scouts.

SCOUT MOTTO       The Scout Motto : “BE PREPARED”   Means you have to be ready always. Keep your mind and body ready to do your DUTY.   This can be achieved by being Physically Strong, Mentally Awake and Morally Straight.
